All sailing will be done in a dinghy such as our Laser Bahias, RS Fevas, Picos or Lasers.
You will learn rigging, launching, sailing in all directions, capsize recovery and essential safety knowledge.

ILCA6 Youth European Championships 2024 in Numbers -
- 368 sailors from 30 European countries and 14 non-European countries
- 11 competitors from NI, 7 from North Down and 6 from Ballyholme Yacht Club.
- 6 days of racing, 2 races a day with 2 race arenas...

The event officially starts on Saturday, 27 July with a practice race and Opening Parade (6pm) on Sunday, 28 July but as you can see, many of the competitors are already in Bangor getting familiar with the sailing conditions. Racing starts on Monday, 29 July, finishing on Saturday, 3 August.

Wow - 43 nations?! 🌎

Ballyholme Yacht Club is at Bangor Northern Ireland.

Thanks to Betty Armstrong of Afloat Magazine for this fantastic write up about the magical transformation of Ballyholme Yacht Club into a bustling competitor village for the ILCA6 Youth European Championships 2024.

Registration will start later this week with a practice race (14:00hrs) and the Opening Parade and Ceremony (18:00hrs) on Sunday, 28 July and racing proper starting Monday, 29 July. There will be six days of racing with the the Prize-GIving closing the event on Saturday, 3 August.

Competitors - there are close to 400 from 30 European countries and 14 rest-of-world nations - are already arriving and there is definitely a buzz in the air! 😃
