RYA Adult Stage 1 + 2 - Start Sailing Courses
This beginner-friendly course provides a gentle introduction to sailing. You’ll learn the basic principles of boat handling, rigging, launching, and recovery.
By the end of the course, you’ll have a good understanding of wind awareness and be able to sail in light winds under supervision.
No previous experience required, minimum age 16.
What's After Stage 2?
Once you have completed your Stage 2 certificate, you can charter a boat from us to continue developing your skills and build confidence on the water.
You can also take part in our Saturday Social Sailing sessions for just £10 per session, a great way to gain more experience in a relaxed and supportive environment, with safety cover provided . To book, please contact admin@ballyholme.com.

RYA Adult Level 3 - Better Sailing
Refresh, refine and build confidence on the water with our RYA Adult Level 3 (Better Sailing) course. Designed for sailors who have completed RYA Levels 1 and 2 – or who already have equivalent experience – this course bridges the gap between basic skills and more advanced sailing techniques.
Over two days, you’ll focus on improving boat handling, developing greater control in a variety of conditions, and becoming a more independent, self-sufficient sailor. With plenty of time spent on the water, our qualified instructors provide personalised coaching to help you strengthen existing skills and explore new ones at your own pace.
