BYC Open Wingfoil Racing Series

Wingfoil Racing will take place at BYC this year on Wednesday evenings once per month over the summer, with an alternate date of the adjacent Thursday if weather is unsuitable. The aim is to get as many local Wingers as possible out on the water, having fun and promoting the sport. This is open to members at a price of £5 and non-members for £10 per session, payable via the website in advance. Entries close at 1600 on the day.

Racing will take the format of a simple figure of eight course, using a RIB or Yak as a start and finish boat, plus club fixed marks or small inflatable marks laid for the race.

A brief will take place ashore at BYC at 1830 on the evening of the racing, covering safety, race area, likely number of races and number of laps per race.

First gun will be at 1900, with the aim of racing for approximately 1 hour, achieving as many short races as possible.

Prizes will be provided each event, subject to the number of entries.

Minimum windspeed 8 Kts.

Safety:

Minimum standard is for a competitor to be able to sail the course unaided, and be able to sail to and from the race area in Ballyholme Bay.

A maximum of 20 entries will be allowed per date.

All competitors must wear impact vests and helmets when foiling.

There will be a minimum of one safety boat on the water (which may be the start/finish boat), with first aid trained crew. A specialist foiling first aid kit must be available on the water.
