RYA Start Wingsurfing Course Description

This is a 4-hour course for anyone aged 12-16 with no prior wingsurfing experience, running from 0930-1330.

This course is structured around the RYA Start Wingsurfing certification, and you’ll receive a logbook to track your progress and accomplishments.

All equipment is provided, and no previous sailing or wingsurfing experience is required.

Whether you’re looking to take on the wind and water with a sense of adventure or develop a lifelong passion for the sport, the RYA Beginner Wingsurfing course is the perfect start!

Course Overview:

Instructor: RYA Wingsurfing Certified Instructor

Group Size: Maximum of 4 students

Location: Ballyholme Bay (weather permitting)

Duration: 4 hours (0930-1330)

All prices include RYA certification, expert tuition, kit hire, and use of BYC facilities.

What’s Included:

RYA Certification upon completion

RYA Wingsurfing Logbook

Professional tuition from a certified instructor

Kit hire (all necessary equipment provided)

Use of BYC facilities, including warm showers for after your session

What to Bring

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, please bring the following gear:

Full wetsuit (3mm thickness recommended; available from BYC but subject to availability)

Swimwear (for under the wetsuit)

Wetsuit boots or trainers (Crocs and flip-flops are NOT suitable)

Buoyancy Aid (can be provided by BYC)

Change of clothes (for after your session)

Woolly hat or Sun Hat (depending on the weather!)

Towel

Snacks and a drink to keep hydrated

Recommended Extras:

Sunglasses (should have a string or strap) and sunscreen (for sunny or variable weather)

Important Notes:

While Ballyholme Bay is sheltered, courses may be cancelled or shortened if weather conditions are not ideal for windsurfing.

Expect to get wet! Proper clothing is essential to stay warm and comfortable during your lesson.
