UPDATE ON ICEBREAKER & JUNIOR ICEBREAKER

Icebreaker Series & Junior Icebreaker

Following careful consideration and subject to no further restrictions, BYC plans to continue with the Icebreaker Series.

Please click here to see RYA (NI) re. latest guidance.

Sailing will only continue as long as guidelines and law is adhered to. We cannot stress enough the importance of social distancing and personal responsibility. Please do not attend BYC if you, or anyone in your household, are feeling unwell or experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 or you have come in to contact with someone who has tested positive within the last 14 days.

We would ask that all sailors arrive changed and ready to go on the water in good time. Once rigged you should take to the water to allow others in the boat park to rig safely. Mixed household sailing racing may be able to continue, but only where social distancing can be adhered to and adequate mitigations are put in place to reduce the potential transmission of Covid 19.

Launch and recovery should be well spaced and it may be that if the slipways and boat parks become congested a race official will direct the holding and subsequent release of groups of sailors to the slipways.

We would also recommend the use of face masks or buffs in the boat parks.

Please note the hoses have been temporarily removed and we would request that upon recovery you bring your craft to your allocated boat park space to prevent groups gathering.

We remind parents to allow cadets to rig and launch independently and draw attention to the current legislation with regard to the two household rule, please do not gather in groups in the boat parks.

We will continually review the guidelines and how it affects sailing and other activities at BYC. Racing can only continue if we work together to provide a safe environment for all concerned and would appreciate your support in this.

Please note this guidance is subject to change, should RYANI or the NI Exec alter their current stance.

Rob Milligan, Rear Commodore Sailing
