 RYA YOUTH SAILING SCHEME – Stage 2

Monday 17th July – Friday 21st July 2023

9.30 – 12.45

This course will be run across five half days. It is aimed at Students who have completed their Stage 1 course.

Assumed Knowledge

Basic knowledge and steering ability to Stage 1

Minimum Age: 8

Content of the course

Improved sailing skills on all points of sail. Tacking, gybing, ropework and collision avoidance.

Ability after the course

Able to tack and control boat speed, and understand basic principles.

NOTE: There is a non-refundable administration fee of £1.50 for each transaction

What to Bring

– Wetsuit boots or an old pair of trainers *

– Swimwear for under the wetsuit, towel, dry change of clothes

– Sunscreen/cap

– Water, snacks, lunch

Please also bring your child’s sailing logbook so that the instructors can sign off what aspects of the course they complete along the way.

*Note: wellington boots, wetsuit socks, flip-flops and Crocs are NOT suitable footwear for dinghy sailing.

We can provide a wetsuit, spray-jacket and buoyancy aid (can’t guarantee all the sizes).

Changing rooms & showers are available.

Pick up time is strictly 12:45, failure to do so would affect our ability to run the next course.
