 RYA YOUTH SAILING SCHEME – Stage 1 & Stage 2

Monday 7th August – Friday 11th August 9.30 – 17.00

This course will be run across five days. No prior experience required

Minimum Age: 8

Content of the course

Launching and recovery, steering, parts of the boat, basic sailing also improving sailing skills on all points of sail,

tacking, gybing, ropework and collision avoidance.

Ability after the course

Able to steer and understand basic principles

Able to tack and control boat speed, and understand basic principles.

All applicable RYA books and logbooks are included.

What to Bring

– Wetsuit boots or an old pair of trainers *

– Swimwear for under the wetsuit, towel, dry change of clothes

– Sunscreen/cap
– Water/juice and snacks

*Note: wellington boots, wetsuit socks, flip-flops and Crocs are NOT suitable footwear for dinghy sailing.

We can provide a wetsuit, spray-jacket and buoyancy aid (can’t guarantee all the sizes).

Changing rooms & showers are available.
