RYA YOUTH SAILING SCHEME – CLUB RACING (INTERMEDIATE)

Thursday 8th August and Friday 9th August 2024

9.30am – 4.30pm

This course will be run across two full days.

About the Course

This course will improve your racing technique and knowledge for racing at a club level, building on boat handling and speed, as well as starting to build the knowledge required to develop a strategy based on the conditions. You will build on current basic racing skills, helping to improve the key principles of line bias and the first beat; stopping and hovering; Roll tacks and gybes; adapting the rig and sail settings.

Assumed Knowledge

To enrol you need to be Youth Stage 3 and Start Racing qualified or demonstrate equivalent standard.

Please note that there is a non-refundable £1.50 administrative charge.

What to Bring

– Wetsuit boots or an old pair of trainers *

– Swimwear for under the wetsuit, towel, dry change of clothes

– Sunscreen/cap

– Packed Lunch/Water/juice and snacks

*Note: wellington boots, wetsuit socks, flip-flops and Crocs are NOT suitable footwear for dinghy sailing.

We can provide a wetsuit, spray-jacket and buoyancy aid (can’t guarantee all the sizes).

Changing rooms & showers are available.
