Eddie Skelly Memorial & Pebble Dash Swim

Home / Event / Eddie Skelly Memorial & Pebble Dash Swim

We are hosting two swimming races on Saturday the 3rd of August 2019. The registration fee is £20 and entitles you to participate in either or both swims. There will be a maximum of 150 entries in total

The first race will be ‘The Eddie Skelly Memorial Race’ This race has been running since 2011 in memory of the longstanding Bangor Swimming club coach Eddie Skelly. It is a 1500m competitive swim with a 40 minute time limit to finish. The start time for this swim is 3pm. The race will start and finish at BYC slip.

The second race is the 54 North Pebble Dash. It is 1k race in bay to the beach to collect your pebble medal. Start time is 4pm. We will have 150 numbered hand painted pebbles laid out in consecutive order on the beach. Swimmers will collect the pebble number in the order number they come out of the water corresponding with their position in the race. Once they have their pebble their race has finished and they should make their way to the Yacht Club for some well deserved refreshments!

The registration fee for the event will include hot drinks, a pulled pork burger by Wolf and Devour (vegetarian option will be available) . There will be live music throughout the afternoon and into the evening so we would be delighted if swimmers and supporters could join us in this celebration of open water swimming.

The yacht club bar will be open and waiting staff will be happy to take orders outside.

This is a not for profit event. The organisers would like to thank BYC for their generous support as hosts. All profits will go to the North Down and Ards Down’s Syndrome Support Group.
