Register now for sailing and windsurfing courses
Ballyholme Yacht Club’s summer programme of sailing and windsurfing courses is now online and open for registration so if you have ever wondered what it would be like to skim across the waters of Ballyholme Bay, now is your opportunity to find out.
The courses are open to non-members, are Royal Yachting Association certified and all equipment is provided including wetsuits and buoyancy aids. Participants can be sure of individualised attention as classes are small with just eight students for the sailing courses, and four for windsurfing. Typically, the courses run for two days over a weekend and are made up of both practical and theoretical modules.
Colin Robinson, BYC’s training principal, explains that there is no typical participant. “Sign ups include people who want to try a different sport, people who are new in town, people who sailed as kids and believe they have forgotten everything, empty nesters finding they have time for themselves, as well as parents of children taking part in our junior programme who want to learn a bit about sailing themselves,” he says.
He adds: “The feedback we get from our courses is that people have fun, and feel rewarded as they learn new skills. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn the ropes on the beautiful waters of Ballyholme Bay and I urge anyone who is interested to check out our courses, and not let another summer go by without experiencing the thrill of being out on the water.”
BYC also offers a popular ‘Women on Water’ introduction to watersports course, and a youth summer sailing programme.
