We are delighted to be able to announce that after some months of planning, the Club has been successful in obtaining a grant of £100,000 from the Department for Communities (DfC).

This significant sum will now enable us to carry out some much-needed, and long-awaited repairs and upgrades to important areas of the clubhouse, these include the expansion and upgrading of the ladies’ changing rooms, to tackle a chronic lack of space, outdated amenities and importantly to provide accessible changing facilities.

This work will also include the relocation of the male toilets to the drying room area to meet current safeguarding policies.

Under the terms of the DfC grant, Ballyholme Yacht Club will commit an investment to cover professional fees and VAT.

In addition, the Club has now secured a Marine Licence to proceed with the proposed works to the South boat park and slipway. These works will see the slipway being widened and the building of a wall along the seaward side of the South boat park.  We hope to commence these works at the end of September.

Clearly these schemes represent a major opportunity for the club to move forward and improve the facilities we provide to our members.

We will continue to work on the roll out of this project and are planning an information evening for members in early October. In the meantime the plans will be displayed in the club foyer and changing areas or by clicking the link below

We hope that you will see this, in our Centenary Year, as an exciting development on the path to securing the future of BYC.
