RYA Youth Sailing Scheme Start Racing – 11th & 12th August 2025

9.30am – 4.30pm

This course will be run across two full days.

About the Course

This course will improve your start racing technique and knowledge for entry level club racing, building on boat handling and speed, as well as starting to build the knowledge required to develop a strategy based on the conditions. You will develop basic racing skills, from starting sequence, boat acceleration off the line, the significance of rules in play, weather forecasts and entry level tactics.

Assumed Knowledge

To enrol you need to be Youth Stage 3 and Start Racing qualified or demonstrate equivalent standard.

Please note that there is a non-refundable £1.50 administrative charge.

What to Bring

– Wetsuit boots or an old pair of trainers *

– Swimwear for under the wetsuit, towel, dry change of clothes

– Sunscreen/cap

– Packed Lunch/Water/juice and snacks

*Note: wellington boots, wetsuit socks, flip-flops and Crocs are NOT suitable footwear for dinghy sailing.

We can provide a wetsuit, spray-jacket and buoyancy aid (can’t guarantee all the sizes).

Changing rooms & showers are available.
