Without race officials, the huge sport of racing on the water could not take place. These pages give you all the information you need to become actively involved in this area. Questions can be answered by the Race Officials Administrator.

RACE OFFICIAL SCHEMES
The RYA has training and certification schemes for four kinds of race officials Judges, Umpires, Race Officers and Mark Layers.

RACE OFFICIAL ROLES
Ever wondered what happens on a committee boat or in the protest room? How does a mark layer or umpire do the job? All you questions are answered here.

TRAINING COURSES AND SEMINARS
The RYA runs courses and seminars required for the qualification of race officials.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

BURSARIES
The RYA is pleased to announce that it will award 8 bursaries for the training of Race Officials in the UK.

Courses are normally run during the Autumn and Winter. Please check back for details.
