Come and enjoy Keel-boat Sailing

Keelboat Sailing is a fantastic option for those who want to get out on the lough, and who prefer not to capsize! This is the first year we have offered Keelboat Courses. These are available to members and visitors, beginners and improvers as well as those who perhaps just want to try it out on a summer’s evening.

The Keelboat Courses and Sailing takes place on Yacht “Camira” which is berthed in Bangor Marina. The usual meeting place will be the Marina Office Foyer at Bangor Marina rather than at BYC. The briefing and debriefing will be on the boat. Your Skipper is Russell McGovern who is an RYA Senior Instructor, Yachtmaster and an ISA Performance Race Coach.

Weekend and Two-Day Courses start at 9.30am and finish about 5pm. After this you are welcome to come to BYC Member’s Lounge to receive (hopefully!) your certificate. Please invite family or friends down to celebrate your achievements.

For the Evening Keelboat Practice and Introduction to Racing option you will be meeting at 6pm and likely to finish about 9.30pm. Again, there will be the change to visit the BYC Member’s Lounge.
