MATT McGOVERN (Double Olympian 49er Class) will talk on “Team Work in Sailing – Preparing a Professional Approach”
Saturday 22nd April, ROSS KILLIAN & RUSSELL McGOVERN (ISA Performance Coaches) will give video analysis and coaching tips from the day’s racing.
Bill O’Hara is an International Race Officer, Olympic Rules Advisor and Coach – he will also offer an insight into what you need to think about in preparation for your next sailing event – possibly attending your class World Championships in 2017.How to look at the Notice of Race , Sailing Instructions and think about rule strategy during your event – avoiding contact, rule 42, keeping out of the protest room and taking penalties. And hopefully a few tales from the various events he officiates at across the world including the Volvo RTW, M32 catamaran, Audi Medi Circuit (TP52) and many others.
Olympic 49er sailor Matt McGovern will discuss “Team Work in sailing” – he has plenty of experience of team dynamics having started with his older brother Russell but missing out on Beijing, then two successful Olympic campaigns with Ryan Seaton and now targeting Tokyo 2020 with a new teammate Robbie Gilmore. His position in the team has changed as well – holding the stick for the first time in a number of years, having started representing Ireland at the Youth World Championships in the Laser.
On Friday evening meet Ireland’s Laser Radial star and Olympic Silver Medal winner Annalise Murphy – very well known to the Irish sailing fraternity but now a celebrity with evening TV show appearances, leading the St Patrick’s Day parade in Dublin and who can forget the homecoming in Dun Laoghaire last summer. Annalise will give a talk on how to beat the best and to prepare for competitive gains – with an Olympic edge but applicable to any event or race course.
On the Saturday evening, ISA Performance Coaches Ross Killian and Russell McGovern will give you some video analysis of the racing so far and maybe a few pointers as to where your championship is going right or wrong before the final days racing.
All of the talks are free of charge to competitors but you must register below for Annalise’s talk on Friday night.
Parents and other visitors are most welcome to all of the nights- there is a small charge of £5.00 on Friday evening with Annalise Murphy to help cover the costs of these talks with a contribution to the RNLI.
Please note there is a limit of 300 tickets so please book early to avoid disappointment.
