Friday Night (Adult) Sailing runs every week starting at 6.30pm.
It is aimed at BYC members over 16 who are looking to improve their sailing skills or just get more time on the water, and is overseen by a Senior Instructor or Race Coach. The sessions will be fun with a bit of instruction and coaching. It is not a RYA course though you can ask for help if you want to practice certain skills or areas of sailing. There will be a short briefing before, and a shorter debrief afterwards depending on the time people wish to return to shore – possibly upstairs in the bar.
You should have either finished Youth Stage 3 or Adult Level 2. Level 1 sailors or members without RYA qualifications may be considered depending on confidence and ability. You must be a BYC member.
You may wish to dine with Haus afterwards so please order your food and organise a time to return by – before you go afloat. They will be either upstairs or around the foyer to take orders. Sessions will normally finish afloat around 8:00pm but may go on longer if the conditions allow and sailors are not getting too tired or cold.
Club Picos will be available for hire as will our RS Feva’s – the cost will be £15.00 per session for Pico’s (one person) and £30 for RS Fevas (two people). You can also use your own dinghy at a reduced rate. Members can of course go sailing for free in their own boats on any day while rescue is out but will not receive coaching or instruction. Friday Night (Adult) Sailing is not available to Social Associate members.
Friday evenings will be busy with Dolphins and Sharks also in operation so lots of Cadets will be running around. Please aim to be down early and have your own dinghy or club Pico/RS Feva ready to go sailing before 6:30 when there will be a short briefing in the front garden or inside – weather depending (look for a noticeboard inside the foyer). Please be changed into your sailing gear (club wetsuits and lifejackets should be available to borrow).
To book a Pico or RS Feva, please enrol as early as possible online below – you can book a boat for each date that you want to attend. Numbers are limited. If you intend to sail more than one evening, please sign up for all the dates you hope to attend at the beginning as this will allow us to plan in better detail what you may want from Friday Night (Adult) Sailing.
Online bookings should be made before 12 noon on the Friday that you wish to attend. The office will be in touch by text on each Friday afternoon to confirm which Pico or RS Feva you will be taking out.
